Deja vu as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines to “a feeling that one has seen or heard something before.” There are different types of dreams, one such being called a prophetic dream. This is a dream of “events or incidents before they happen,” as explained by the article “Different Types of Dreams.” According to that same article, 42% of people have felt they have had such dreams. Another type of dream is a recurring dream. This is simply a dream that is experiencing many times for a long period of time. Apparently “Up to 70% of females and 65% of males experience recurrent dreams.” The third type of dream is called a lucid dream. This is basically when the dreamer becomes aware of the fact that they are dreaming. The mind wakes up during this dream. Another form of dream would be daydreaming. As the name implies, this dreaming occurs while awake. It is otherwise known as a “visionary fantasy.” Lastly is the worst type of dreaming, nightmares. Nightmares are “a terrifying or deeply upsetting dream of particular intensity causing strong feelings of fear, horror, and distress.” Nightmares are brought forth due to physiological problems such as high fevers, or even psychological problems such as past traumas. There are dreams currently that many people have had, and people have tried to interpret dreams. Dina Spector in her article “Psychologist Reveals The Meaning Of 10 Common Dreams,” on the website Business Insider, explains the top 10 common dreams and the meaning behind them. One such dream is falling. Spector explains that “Feeling yourself falling in a dream indicates that you are hanging on too tightly to a particular situation in waking life, and need to relax and let go of it.” She then goes on to offer advice, for this one she recommends that “Rather than being so concerned about losing control, sometimes you just have to trust in yourself and others by allowing everything to fall naturally into place.” There are of course more dreams she gives advice to, some strange and other more common, one strange one is the dream of your teeth falling out, a more common one is flying.
