Definition Essay: The True Meaning Of My Name

While many of us have a set of words we are called by, some of them are special, but only a few can call us by them. We all have reasons we were given them. Some we prefer than others. I will give a little bit about my names, Christian Leon McCoy. As well as tell about their meanings, origin, and where they came from.
Looking at my first name, Christian, you will find that it comes from a Medieval Latin name Christianus, meaning “a Christian”. Back in the times of the names origin, you will find it was a name that could be used for both genders, such as Peyton or Alex. Back then, though, you would find it to be very common. The only part is that I don’t know where my dad got the name. This name came from the Greek word actually translated as Leon. Leon is not from the ancient Greek language, it is actually from the time in which Greece was in a time of Christianity. But also, in the Middle Ages it was a common name among people of the Jewish religion. Then on to my last name, McCoy, also came from my parents. Oddly enough, my last name was supposed to be Harder. That whole situation came from when my dad was born. His parents were split and my grandma was so mad at my grandpa, that she gave my dad her current last name, which was McCoy. Thus the line of Harder’s was broken. The name McCoy comes from Scottish decent. The name is actually from Scottish Highlanders by the name of MacKay. While we all have our given birth names, we also have our nicknames given to us by family members and friends. I personally have several, such as Junior, because I have quite a few of the same features and similarity traits as my dad. That name is a nickname reserved for my parents only. Another nickname that recently caught on has been Sister, because of the song Sister Christian by Night Ranger. This one is reserved for only a hand few in the scouting community. Then the last one that comes to mind is the nickname KD0POO (pronounced Kay-Da-Poo). You have to be really special to call me by that name. I reserve
