Unfortunately, some individuals have stereotypical expectations, based on traits of that specific person and/or group. Whether that be race, physical appearance, or maybe even the shoes they are wearing, people are constantly being grouped along with expectations for that group. Race is a major category for organizing such expectations. Although each race may have positive or negative expectations, it is impossible to precisely predetermine one's behavior based on race. Being a child let me be whoever I wanted to be without having to think about any expectation defining who I am. I also was unaware of the value of education and paid no attention to it. My parents did not emphasize its importance, so I was left not caring about it. Instead of finding interest in classes, I put them to the side and focused solely on being a kid. After maturing throughout high school, I now am aware of these expectations and am fully aware of the importance of education. Not only do I understand the value of it, but also how driven you must be to do anything to obtain it.
