To start off, fear is what stops people from progressing in life. It stops us from reaching our goals such as trying to get that grade or trying out for a sports team. Failure is one of the biggest fears people face but if we don’t try new things, doors won’t open, and doors will close gaining no new experiences or opportunities. Earlier in gymnastics, I was scared of flipping off of the bar. I was so scared of the skill that I wouldn’t do an easier part of it which was just going to my back into the pit. I gave into the fear. I wanted to give up on gymnastics, but I didn’t. My coach wouldn’t let me give up that easily. She helped me overcome that fear of flipping off of the high bar. Fear can control your life by overpowering your actions, but it can be worked through. Control your fears don’t allow it to control you. Fear is a mental block that our body can push through.
