Weather it is of oneself, or of another person, respect is something that goes a long way. This would mean having a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, and that they would be treated appropriately. (“Respect.”). There are different reasons to respect somebody, as well as reasons of why people lose respect for others. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy describes how in different ways how respect is an important this in life, and how it affects us. “It is part of everyday wisdom that respect and self-respect are deeply connected, that it is difficult if not impossible both to respect others if we don't respect ourselves and to respect ourselves if others don't respect us.” is how Robin S. But, there are plenty of common meanings, on which many people would agree, that the term respect would mean. Whether you are young or old, one can always show respect, to anybody, no matter the age, race or even religion. Respect doesn’t necessarily mean you must agree with what another person may believe, but to treat them as if they are still a human being, and consider the opinions they have on a subject. There are also many different ways one can show respect, at all times of the day. Respect is something shown to not only others around you, but something you can have for yourself as well. As kids grow up, they watch the way we do things, and learn from watching us. They notice how people are treated, and grow up, knowing how to treat others this same way. A psychologist, Dr. Charles Fay, said, “Your child understands what’s important by seeing what’s important in your life”. Therefore, if these children grow up, seeing how important examples of kindness, politeness, and respectfulness of others, this is most likely how they are going to be as they get
