Succeeding in Happiness Where are you on your road to success? Where are you on your road to happiness? Are you relying on one to fulfill the other? Perhaps you’re thinking that once you finally achieve success, you’ll be happy. To be honest, success is long hard work. But then again, so is happiness. But it doesn’t have to be. Why should you sacrifice your happiness until you finally succeed as something you maybe don’t even want? You can define your own success, which means you can define your own happiness. Speaking of success, what is success? According to the definition from Merriam Webster, success, as a noun, is ‘the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame’. (Merriam-Webster 1995) The Oxford dictionary argues that it is ‘the fact that you have achieved something that you want and have been trying to do or get; the fact of becoming rich or famous or of getting a high social position.” …show more content…
Success is to live your life with integrity and not give into peer pressure to be something you’re not. Follow your passion, stay true to yourself, never follow someone else's path; unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path, then by all means, you should follow that.” So success is following your own path. John Wooden, the legendary basketball coach proclaims that "Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming." Success is doing your absolute best and being at peace with it. Spiritual teacher, Deepak Chopra, who wrote The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success declares that "Success in life could be defined as the continued expansion of happiness and the progressive realization of worthy
