So what makes a great hero? Is it accomplishments? Is it rewards? Recognition? To refer back to Einstein’s quote, success is not what defines a hero. Yes, success does bring recognition and rewards; nevertheless, success isn’t what makes a great hero. Einstein says our values or virtues are what makes a hero.

The hero should show that he cares and that makes a hero better.
If these are all virtues that we deem as necessary for a hero to have, then there are many ordinary heroes that surround us .Everyday, ordinary people just living out their lives are excellent examples of a hero with great virtues. A hero does not have to be well known, well loved by all, or extremely popular. Oftentimes, people who do good and should be recognized as a hero go unnoticed for their selfless acts. Why then, do we not look to them, but to larger than life figures that draw everyone’s attention?
Viktor E. Frankl and Elie Wiesel are two men who show demonstrate virtues a hero should have. The tragedies these two men faced were horrid, yet look at the outcome of what happened to them. They both made it through their hardships which shows a tremendous amount of tenacity and courage. Frankl and Wiesel also have demonstrated humility, integrity and respect. When they both wrote their books, their goals were not to condemn the Nazis and seek revenge, but to let people know that what they went through was real and horrid, but to prevent us from forgetting and allowing another Holocaust to happen.
