Heroes are and can be everyday people they do not have to be able to fly, but a person who makes a difference. Heroes can be determined by the challenges they face and their characteristics. Some of these traits are patriotism, determination, and courage. To start off with, one of the attributes a hero has is patriotism. The poem, A Man states, “while fighting for his country he lost an arm”. This man who lost his arm has strong patriotism, because he did not have to choose to fight for his country. He could have stayed home, but he did not. John Greenleaf Whittier wrote a poem which entails, “Bravest of all in Fredrick town, she took up the flag the men hauled down; In her attic window the staff she set, To show that one heart was loyal yet”. Barbara Frietchie took up the flag and stuck it out of her window to support her country and to show she was loyal. …show more content…

A specially designed gas pedal is on the left side of his slate-gray Toyota Tacoma truck.” Even though Tristen Segers has lost a leg he has not given up.
