They are strong both mentally and physically with the highest of standards that inspire others to be just like them. These are the heroes generally found in comic books, fantasy stories, and fairy tales. Misfits in society are unlikely heroes. They are usually outcasts that find some way to overcome their differences from others or use the differences to their advantages. Harry Potter and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer would examples of misfit heroes. Historical heroes, such as George Washington, Harriet Tubman, and Gandhi, became distinguished by using their leadership skills and influence to make a difference in the world. Greek and Roman mythology had heroes, such as Zeus and Venus, which represented different aspects of the world at that time. In our everyday lives, the word hero is often associated with police officers, firefighters, and the militia because of the heroic acts that may come with their job. And then, there are the unsung heroes.
