The True Meaning of Life Take some time to picture a mother giving birth. During this painful process, the mother must undergo multiple contractions to make the birth possible for the baby. During these contractions, the mother will experience intense pain, thoughts of doubt, and the emotions of fear, anger, and sadness. However, after the birth, the mother holds her child and feels the pain and sorrow wash away. This experience is a picture of God’s immeasurable gift of joy. Unlike an ephemeral amount of happiness, joy is beneficial because it provides emotional comfort, acts as a fail-safe to avoid negative thoughts and emotions, and helps a person live longer.

Joy is a rush of happiness that comes from events, people, and God that allows us to live life to the fullest. The Bible shows us multiple examples of joy through characters like King David, who celebrated and gave glory to God after every battle he won. In fact, he went as far to strip to his underwear and dance because he was so happy and thankful. Another example of joy is the apostle Paul. No matter his circumstances, Paul would always be joyous in the Lord. While in prison (book of Philippians) he writes, “Even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.” Ultimately, God created us to love life. In the Garden of Eden, He put Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden without the worry of danger or emotional distress. In a more humorous sense, God gave two humans the liberty to run around naked, have endless food supplies, walk around with all the animals of the world, and always be

Defining happiness is an incredibly difficult idea to portray. Different things make different people happy and there are so many ways that a person could express what happiness means. Webster’s Dictionary defines it as an agreeable feeling or condition of the soul arising from good fortune or propitious happening of any kind and the possession of those circumstances or that state of being, which is attended with enjoyment. Researchers claim that up to half of a person’s happiness comes from their genes. However, happiness is not determined by your biological makeup, but rather your mindset and the external influences around you.…

Happiness Such a powerful word in American culture Much of my life, I had thought of happiness as a rather nebulous term. I also had some impressions that because I was fortunate enough to have been born in a first world country, happiness was just part of the package. That general disengaged and not important perspective changed about a decade ago when my wife and I learned that she had cancer. I needed to do some inner reflection for strength and direction.…

It is often the joy of hopeful struggle, consecration of purpose and energy to some good end. Real happiness ever has its root in unselfishness—its blossom in love of some kind” Happiness is a state of mind, Joseph Smith understood this and chose to be happy by maintaining a cheerful disposition to the end of his life. People who are happy have several things in common; they choose to be happy, they love God and their family, marriage and family are priorities, they have trials with themselves and with their families and continue to love and labor, they are grateful for what they have, and they live the gospel. “It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”…

When I think of my personal happiness I think of myself living a pleasing life, having a career with a great income, being wealthy and teaching my kids the right way to do something and not the wrong. Being nice and considerate of other people will take you a long way in life. But everyone’s definition of happiness does not consist of the same thing. Someone else’s definition of happiness could be to grow old with their significant other and move far away to a secluded, private island drinking mimosas all-day. Other people dream of becoming a big rap star, pop artist or dancer and going on tour with millions of fans screaming their name.…
