“Happiness” In our world today there are many words with only a single meaning or definition. For example, the word pencil, it is defined as a writing utensil. Furthermore, there are words such as happiness that can have numerous meanings and values to someone or something. Also, there are countless media outlets where someone can change or adjust their definition of a single word, such as a movie or book. Everyone has experienced so many different things, so it is nearly impossible to simply define happiness. With the help of the movies, Hector and the Search for Happiness, directed by Peter Chelsom, The Blind Side, directed by John Lee Hancock, and the poem Happiness by Dr. Tulsi Hanumanthu, came my own definitions of happiness. To see a little kid witnessing his first zoo visit, or getting the one toy they have always wanted is a wonderful thing. A bright smile on anyone's face can adjust your feelings and outlook on life. This develops in Hector in the scene on his way back home to Clara. “Hector notices a woman named Jamilla, who just had surgery to remove a tumor, struggling and in discomfort. After talking to the pilot of plane they are to lower the altitude, so it has less pressure on her head”(Chelsom,2014). From this Hector realizes that she wanted to make it back home to her family before she passed, and experienced her true happiness. Not to also mention that Mrs. Tuohy, from The Blind side, experienced this example of happiness. At the end of the movie, it is time for graduation and whether or not Michael can play collegiate football. “Michael needed a 2.5 GPA in order to be eligible for Division I athletics, and he finished with 2.52. As he walked across stage, Michael looked into the audience and smiled at Mrs. Tuohy.”(Hancock, 2009) She experienced Michael’s happiness because ever since he was a little kid he wanted to play football, and she has done everything in her power to help him achieve his goal. To demonstrate this definition of happiness, Dr. Hanumanthu gives an example of communication in his poem Happiness. In lines 25-28 it
