Happiness. I am striving to see happiness to relate success to my life. My first ideas of criteria to consider my life successful were my dream house and my dream job. While these are important goals in my life, they will always remain goals. They are what I picture when I imagine a perfect life. Realistically, no one person will ever achieve a perfect life, but I know I can achieve a happy one. Waking up enthusiastic about my job is one something I must do to feel content with my life. As of now, I see myself working as an architect. Working with building design is a hobby so engaging to me that I seem to lose track of time when doing it. I have an image in my head of me getting to practice this hobby daily and nothing excites me more. I

Defining happiness is an incredibly difficult idea to portray. Different things make different people happy and there are so many ways that a person could express what happiness means. Webster’s Dictionary defines it as an agreeable feeling or condition of the soul arising from good fortune or propitious happening of any kind and the possession of those circumstances or that state of being, which is attended with enjoyment. Researchers claim that up to half of a person’s happiness comes from their genes. However, happiness is not determined by your biological makeup, but rather your mindset and the external influences around you.…

Happiness Such a powerful word in American culture Much of my life, I had thought of happiness as a rather nebulous term. I also had some impressions that because I was fortunate enough to have been born in a first world country, happiness was just part of the package. That general disengaged and not important perspective changed about a decade ago when my wife and I learned that she had cancer. I needed to do some inner reflection for strength and direction.…

Are you at home in joy, or is joy just a place you visit from time to time when the stars align and conditions are somehow just right? For far too many of us, joy is less like home base, and more like an infrequently visited vacation place, which we think of wistfully and longingly during the emotionally turbulent trials and tribulations of Earth life. But according to the way you are designed, you are intended to live in joy. Joy is to be your emotional "default setting"--the emotional state you naturally come back to whenever the highs and lows level out. Actually, the highs and lows aren't a part of the state in which you were designed to live--they are unique to the current tumultuous reality state in which we currently dwell here on Earth.…

Scientifically, happiness is satisfaction, positive feelings, and a lack negative feelings (Porter 459). Most of us can agree with this statement and acknowledge that they feel the most happiness in these conditions, but what exactly is happiness? “For if happiness is what people strive for, one needn’t waste time trying to figure out what makes people happy. One must only look at what people do” (Porter 460). We choose to work and make money to benefit our happiness.…

How can you explain happiness? Well to me there you can't explain it, I would say it is something you would have to feel. Of course we know the definition to happiness is feeling joy, pleasure, cheerful or satisfaction. For me my happiness comes from just having a day where I have absolutely nothing to do. For example last weekend I had my whole weekend scheduled for me by my family and husband, they booked me a room in hot springs and for three days and the first day I went alone, they all joined me the next day, but the first day I had the best spa treatment and after all I had to do is sit back watch TV and order in.…

When I think of my personal happiness I think of myself living a pleasing life, having a career with a great income, being wealthy and teaching my kids the right way to do something and not the wrong. Being nice and considerate of other people will take you a long way in life. But everyone’s definition of happiness does not consist of the same thing. Someone else’s definition of happiness could be to grow old with their significant other and move far away to a secluded, private island drinking mimosas all-day. Other people dream of becoming a big rap star, pop artist or dancer and going on tour with millions of fans screaming their name.…

I find that the definition of happiness depends on the person and circumstances, and to me happiness is not a mere emotion that I wish to have every single moment in my life. Happiness is a relative term that some people consider an expected result of doing good deeds, and I believe it is a memorable feeling that lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of effort and always linked to a place in some way. In order to understand what happiness is, I looked into my past and tried to find out if there is a formula for happiness. From my perspective, the level of personal happiness fluctuates depending on the situation.…
