Freedom is a very big concept. Freedom is something people have strived for for many years, and it’s something that people still strive for. A long time ago, America was known as the thirteen colonies and they strived to be free from Britain. In the 1900’s African American people strived to have freedom to go to school or even be able to be allowed into a certain restaurant. Freedom is the ability to be able to walk in a public place without being told that you aren’t allowed there. Freedom is the ability to be able to say what you think and not be punished for it. Freedom is getting to believe what you believe without anyone telling you it’s wrong. What is freedom? The definition of freedom is: The power or right to act, or think as one want without restraint. Freedom can mean many different things to people. The author of the website Quest For Meaning says,”When we choose love, we begin to be the people of freedom.” They went on to say that the U.S.A is the most free country that has the most people behind bars. Is freedom really liberty or is it a cell. In some ways it might be both. In America people are ‘free’ but when people act on their right to speak out for what they believe in they get denounced for saying it. America was considered free even when people were being enslaved by the very people that called their country free. What does this say that freedom is? Freedom is like a bird's wings that are able to fly away when they wish.
