Free of Jealousy
As a teen girl it is quite hard to not compare yourself to others. Whether it be with the way a person looks, their intelligence or how popular they are. I, myself, have always been jealous of what someone else had and what I did not have; I have never counted my blessings and thanked God for what I was fortunate enough to have. If I could talk to every single pre teen girl in the world today, I would tell them that they are beautiful and don’t need to look to others for reassurance. They only need to look in themselves for self love and acceptance. Even as I am saying this now, I still struggle consistently with believing this myself. I am always trying to overcome this and fully accept myself.
Just one example is every

To attain this, we first have to understand what jealousy is and where it comes from. Jealousy is defined by Merriam Webster as, an unhappy or angry feeling of wanting to have what someone else has. Jealousy has been around since Biblical times; it shows multiple examples of jealousy and envy throughout. In a study, nineteen Japanese students were asked to discuss a rival that was more successful than them, while being scanned by an MRI. These scanned showed that the frontal lobe of the brain now takes credit for the home of jealousy. So even though we now know that humans are predisposed to become jealous of others, we still raise the question. Why are humans jealous? There really is no answer to this question. I will try to explain my reasoning of jealousy, but I still question myself on whether I am right or …show more content…
Elizabeth Bowen, an Irish writer, once wrote “Jealousy is no more than feeling alone against smiling enemies” (Psychology Today). She summed up jealousy in just a sentence. When we are jealous we think the other people are happy and perfect. We never think that they are struggling just as we are. Their lives are nothing but a goal we want to have but we never will because life would be boring if everyone was the same. We need to have different types of personalities, different voices, different versions of beauty to have life be the way it is. If not, then why are we here if our goal is to attain the set type of the “perfect person” because this will never be possible, in other words impossible. We all know that it is impossible to become someone else so why do we try so hard to be that someone else? We may never know but we can try to change it. If I could voice my opinion to every girl, boy, child, teen or person today I would say. Stop trying to change who you are for the world, just go change the world. Together as a collective world we can change whatever we want to but it just takes a lot of work. We could become free of jealousy and comparison and self hate if we stop promoting it through social media, the internet, and the media. We should be promoting diversity, uniqueness, and variety within mankind. I am looking forward to the day, where I can say that I am free of jealousy; and that I am able

Jealousy is a very complex emotion, it can often mislead a person from seeing and or acting with a clear mind. Those who allow their jealousy to control their actions often end up destroying their lives by falling victim to it. In Shakespeare’s Othello and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby both protagonists Othello and Gatsby do exactly this. Although, they both prove to be very jealous men, ultimately in the end Gatsby clearly proves to be the more noble character. Othello owes his jealous nature to the fact he’s unwilling to truly trust the ones he loves on account of his own insecurities.…

Jealousy comes when one's focus is taken off God and put upon the world. Hebrews 13:4 states “but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” God's Word also states in I Corinthians 3:17 “if any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.” The purity of mankind should be maintained, therefore the jealous husband was to bring her before the priest who would carry out all the law. Devils love the destruction of relations between a man and his wife.…

From a young age, girls learn about beauty. They watch their mom’s getting ready, they play with their ‘perfect’ Barbie dolls, and they get a preconception that beauty is the act of being beautiful. No one ever has to tell them ‘beauty is this’ or ‘you are beautiful if you look like this’ but that is the preconceived notion that girls get when they notice the same features considered as beautiful. Here, is where society falls short in the teaching of young girls to love themselves. People conform to society's standard of beauty because they believe only one exists and it can be acquired if not already obtained.…

    (49) Originally, men feel hatred because of how prosperous other men seem, but these feelings translate into feelings of jealousy and envy. The feeling of anger comes about as men perceive things they do not possess, which later results in feelings of envy because they want things for themselves. Selfishness is an aspect of envy, because envy is the desire for something a man does not obtain, which shows signs of desiring things for one-self rather than being content with what a man has. The desire for things for one’s self-benefit includes the overarching theme of…

Race and gender are two nouns used to discern the differences between and categorize every human being. For years, scientists argued that the dissimilarities between races and genders were due to biological factors; however, Audrey and Brian Smedley, in their article on race and biology, assert that, “The consensus among most scholars in fields such as evolutionary biology, anthropology, and other disciplines is that racial distinctions fail on all three counts—that is, they are not genetically discrete, are not reliably measured, and are not scientifically meaningful” (Smedley, Smedley). Their elucidation of biology as a meaningless component of the distinction between races leads to the justification of race and gender as a purely social…

It is usually present in those who have gone through some form of rejection in the past resulting in feeling a lack of self-worth. If you do not think that you deserve love and fidelity, the tendency would be to question every expression of those until you work yourself into a jealous frenzy. If you are married and each time you see your wife or husband speak to and laugh with another man or woman and you experience unreasonable jealousy, then you need to pause and think about why you are feeling the way you do. For people with a low self-image, the feeling is often of not being worth their partner ’s love and conjectures that maybe the other person they are laughing with actually does deserve them…
