Definition Essay: The Differences Between Faith And Fear

Faith and fear are seen as just regular harmless words, but they are both much stronger than that. Even though these two words are both powerful in life, they are actually polar opposites. For instance, fear is the uncertainty that causes wars. While faith is the trust and belief that God will get you through those wars. This simply means that fear makes you think irrationally and make your actions harmful. Meanwhile, faith makes you brave, courageous, and wise. The differences between them make it impossible for them to coexist. There is no neutral line between them, they are not yin and yang, they do not belong together. An unpleasant feeling you may have when you feel you are in danger or that someone is threatening, that is the definition of fear. Though, to me, there is a greater meaning to the word fear. It brings peace, comfort, and shelter from the storm. A faith in God drives fear away and empowers you. Faith is a gift from God so that we can be strong and not fear the world and its lies. Complete trust and confidence in someone or something, that is the definition of faith. Having faith give you the strength to walk through the day and life’s challenges. With faith, you are not afraid to go out in the dark or go to foreign countries to do what God has instructed you to do. When the Bible says do not fear, it is saying have faith in God. Since the Bible says “do not fear” 365 times, it also means have faith. Getting out, giving a speech, facing your fears and more all require faith. Sometimes faith can seem scarce, but it is always there. Though, to me, it is underused and is not seen as important as it should be.
