“What do I consider to be beautiful”
Beauty comes in many different, ways shapes, and forms. When looking up the definition of beautiful thousands of definitions I found that two stood out to me. I googled the beautiful definition this came up “having beauty; possessing qualities that give great pleasure orsatisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses ormind”( Dictionary.com). The other definition I was interested in was "Beauty is a dynamic event that occurs between you and something else. Beauty is thus an altered state of consciousness, an extraordinary moment of poetry and grace." (ALBRIGHT-HANNA, Adam.) The word cultural appropriation means “when a person takes something with cultural significance from another culture for their own, but doesn’t respect or understand the cultural significance the something has. Instead they only claim to “like the culture because of what they can gain from It. It’s understandable to want to stay up to date with the latest fashion being that it is heavily influenced by African American culture but, it’s another thing to just totally take the culture and water down it down and put another name on it. A good example of people who are famously known to cultural appropriate are Kardashians. They Cornrows is an ancient African that has been worn for centuries in the black community, but as soon as Kardashians their called “boxer braids”.
