In my opinion, choosing happiness as a goal is like trying to win a trophy, just to say you have it. To achieve true, pure happiness, life just has to run its course and things will happen as it goes along.. I’ve made many friends I never intended on making, and they brought so much joy and happiness to my life. If it was my goal to become friends with them in order to achieve happiness, the outcome would probably be different because it would be like I’m almost forcing the friendship for “happiness”. So, yes, I definitely believe happiness as a goal has detrimental effects. If happiness is your “goal” how do you know when you’ve ultimately reached it? How happy is happy
