How do you define success? Google claims that it is 1): the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, or 2): the attainment of popularity or profit. How do you define it? Interestingly, the powerful human desire to be successful has played a huge role in shaping American history into what it is today. As we can see from our nation’s (and the world’s) history, if we fail to retain a firm belief in our personal definition of success, the world will work tirelessly until it convinces us that our supposed definition is w r o n g.

Fancy houses… Expensive cars… Celebrities… Prestigious jobs… Beauty… success. Normally without even realizing it, we associate the previously mentioned things with success; success, success, success. Americans love success. Ok, so does everybody

Surprisingly, happiness is not the accurate definition of success either. Yes, it is infinitely closer than having lots of stuff, but if we claim to be “happy,” yet our spiritual life is suffering, were are not truly successful. Many philosophers have taught that happiness should be the one true goal in life. This is f a l s e. If we decide to make our relationship with our King our definition of success, and act accordingly, we will have to do some things that are not “fun.” But as a result of our faithfulness to God, joy will be poured out upon us… the only kind of happiness that satisfies.

Decide how you will define success, and live accordingly. As google informed us, success is: the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Set your aim on the Lord, and you will not be disappointed. In fact, the only truly successful people in this world, are those who abandon everything else in this life, in order to pursue the Lord with all of their hearts. How sad it is to think that all of those people who assume that they are successful because of what they have accomplished, or their claim to happiness, are actually on the bottom of Heaven’s success

Everyone goes through life trying to be successful; but what actually is success? It is very difficult to define success because it is subjective to the person experiencing it. For instance, to a little child, success could be getting a gold star on his test, for a college student, success could be not failing an exam. Many people, however, just think of success in terms of money. If they cannot buy the same things their neighbors can, they do not see themselves as successful compared to those neighbors.…
