What is family? Defining family is not simply and academic exercise and even experts on the family still have trouble defining it. According to the Census Bureau, the current definition of a family is “two or more people united by blood or legal degree (law).” A more descriptive modern definition would be viewing family more as psychological bond, a group of close people who care for, respect, and love one another. In the US today, families are organized in many ways. They include single parents, cohabiting adults with children, divorce, adoption, and many more different types. To me family is not about being blood related, it is about who you love. It is about having people that you know will be there for you through thick or thin, people
