Beauty is defined by “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.” It is believed by many that beauty only applies to someone’s outward appearance. Beauty can be seen in various ways and forms. Beauty is seen in different perspectives based on Identity, status, and culture. Although people view beauty as ones outwards appearance and appeal, true beauty can lie within and can take on many different forms. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”; a saying which first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. This well-known saying implies that everyone has their own definition and recognition of beauty. What is seen as amazing to one person might be the complete opposite …show more content…
Beauty can characterize a person’s heart, intentions and personality. A person’s soul can make them just as beautiful as their appearance can. A person can be beautiful just from their actions and the way they treat others on a daily basis. True beauty, is perceived with the heart; not the eyes. Inner beauty is a genuine form of beauty and draws people to each other. Inner beauty is superior over physical beauty because it cannot be altered. They are true qualities that will remain with a person throughout life. These features are a valid representative of character and heart. Character can represent one’s personality, and may infer that they have “good” or “bad” character. Character may consist of one’s inner beauty, from within one’s self. This is truly what defines a person and what constitutes their personality. The concept of understanding that a person may have “inner beauty” beyond what is the wrapping on the outside is one that some people have a difficult time accepting. Society must seek out more than just the physicality of a person and delve deep inside to see the goodness that may exist within. Quite often we outcast people due to the lack of outer, physical beauty yet do not give the chance for one’s inner beauty to shine.
