Lust is a word that many people directly associate with sexual desires. That is not always the meaning of the word in all contexts. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary lust is “an intense longing.” This means it is a craving for anything not just sexual desires. There are endless examples of lust throughout history. We will go through many examples of lust. There also are a countless number of ways to handle lust. We will turn to the Bible to see what it says about lust. We also have to see if lust is acceptable in any situation. Finally, we will take a look at number of things that symbolize lust. The abstract noun, lust, is an interesting one because it can stretch to cover numerous things. I want to make it clear that there is a major difference between lust and love. Both feelings are caused by hormones in the body, but I believe that these are more than just a hormone. There are clear difference between love and lust. With lust a person is really just attracted to the person’s looks or body. A person might just love how curvy someone looks. A girl might look at all the muscles a guy has. These features really might attract a person to want relations with one another. These relations are mostly sexual. Now this is human nature to have these urges, but we have to be able to tame them. We are bound to at one point in our lives lust after a person or possessions. This is all in our human nature. The way that we respond to our feelings about that person or thing is what counts. We have to repent to God, we have to make the effort to stay away from those sins, and we have to be willing to face up to what the truth is. I believe that lust is a major issue that each and everyone of us has.
