Being a martyr – This is what I would call sacrificing oneself for the sake and the needs of others. The person acts for the benefits of others overlooking their own wellbeing and happiness. Success is the happiness of others and not themselves.
Being negatively selfish – This is when the person is selfish at the cost of others. Often manipulative, dominating and abusive people with this character trait would force others into submission or cooperation. They put themselves first in all situations including to the detriment of others.
Being positively selfish – This is defined by a person who helps people because they want to driven by an instinctive desire to be helpful. They put themselves first without any deliberate or ill effect on others.

In Landau’s book, The Fundamentals of Ethics, Chapter seven focuses on psychological egoism. The backbone of this theory is that all human actions are driven by human’s egotistical desires. Landau defends this theory by stating, “Psychological egoism is a theory about human motivation: it tells us that our only motivation is to make ourselves better off.” (Landau 106) This means in order for someone to adopt this theory they must believe that even trivial events that seem very altruistic are in fact somehow spawned from an egotistical mindset. Landau explains, “…altruism—the direct desire to benefit others for their own sake without any ulterior motive—does not exist.”…

But the money that the characters deal with is no piggy bank and it would make any man drool over its presence because the bag of cash has millions of dollars in it. One of the characters, Llewelyn Moss comes across this bag and risks his wife’s life and even his own in order to protect it. One of the main themes that is displayed in the novel is greed; in first world countries, it is normal for people to own a lot of things because it is advertised through media and even through each other.…
