As for the article “from Song of Myself” by Walt Whitman illustrates how everything in nature has a purpose, and how he loves being outdoors and being around people who work outdoors, like builders, and sailors. One connection I found between Walt and Theodore is how they both described the nature of animals . For example, Walt described “The brood of the turkey-hen and she with her half-spread wings.” As for Theodore he expressed the gulls “Even the gulls quiet on the far rocks.” Another connection I found between the two authors is how they mention how nature is scattering.…

I feel that Baldwin chose this excerpt as the epigraph for the Giovanni’s Room because, the line itself it alludes to many of the key themes explored throughout the novel like masculinity, sexual identity, and being present. Placing the excerpt in the context of “Song of Myself” reveals even more about the idea of self-acceptance that Baldwin also explores in the novel; Many of the lines leading up to the final couplet begin with “How he,” as if to present a sort of distance between the narrator and the subject, but in the two lines, there is a shift from the third person to the first person, saying, “I am the man, I suffered, I was there.” Whitman shows the narrator accepting the things he has seen, and in doing so, accept himself, much in…

__I think the meaning of the song that Beyoncé wrote is describing pain and what females have to go to or young teens go through, trying to impress the world, and society. How that all what we do don’t mean anything or how we present ourselves maybe we aren’t too happy on the inside maybe everything isn’t all that’s well. I like the song genre because it really feels like music for our souls trying to heal it also. The new generation now we teenagers are affected by this particular song. I think the most powerful lyrics of the song is “pretty Hurts”, because that is the pain of the song the ultimate feelings that’s what she’s trying to get the audience to understand.…
