Stewardship is taking care of our resources to the best of our ability and coming up with ways to stop the wastefulness that takes place all over the world. It is also coming up with ways to improve the things that are being depleted daily, such as; fossil fuels, water, recycling, and the atmosphere.
Sustainability is planning to manage our resources so they will last a long period of time.
Sound science is science plus technology discovering new and improved ways of extracting energy from fuels for our use.
How have the fuels to power homes, industry, and transportation changed from the beginning of the Industrial Revolution to the present day?
The fuels to power homes, industry, and transportation have changed because once they found an adequate fuel source they would either deplete the source or find a better, more efficient way to fuel things. For example; years ago, it started with firewood to heat homes or fuel engines, then wood became scarce so people looked for a better source of fuel. Next, was coal, a great heat source except for the smoke and fumes. Thus, contributing to air pollution. Next, oil is used in several ways, engines, heat, and replaced “coal-fired steam engines” (Wright & Boorse 2011, p.350) to name a few. Next, the gas which is what we use in the present day because it is better and burns cleaner than the other two I listed.
