Based on the documentary on Don Quixote and leadership, the fundamental concepts of leadership include imagination, perseverance, and joy. Don Quixote continuously persists after failure because he is committed to his vision and knows who he is. He teaches us that life is to be challenged.
Don Quixote shows us how to bridge the gap between our fantasies and visions. In the 21st century, we live in a world of rapid innovation and evolution. It is essential for leaders to maintain the childlike imagination they used to have if they want their visions and fantasies to come to life. Don Quixote believes in his illusions, and because of this, he acts on them. He creates his own reality; this should be duplicated by today's leaders. We must go beyond the conventional ways of doing things if we want something to be seen as out of this world and novel. Today, we are continually being judged by society and the norms that firmly exist. Leaders need to continue to imagine and ignore the pessimists who will critique and try to put them down. Quixote is the object of laughter, and he knows it. We laugh at him because he entertains us, but he teaches us that he doesn't care because he knows that he is happy while accomplishing his vision. As leaders, we are taught to incorporate humour when interacting with the people in organizations because it makes it known that is okay for failing as long as we can learn from it and work together to propose a solution. Similarly, to Quixote, leaders of the 21st century have to learn to laugh at themselves and enjoy the process because happiness is indeed the only thing that will continue to motivate us to continue to inspire and innovate within our organizations. Life is short, and we can only appreciate it if it is done with joy and
