People define heroism in many ways, but to me a hero is anyone who is willing to risk their life for someone or something. A person could be heroic in action, taking a stand or helping someone in need. A hero is not someone who is in the right place at the right time or shows up to just save the day. A hero is the military men and women fighting for our freedom, Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, and a counselor helping someone get their life back together. Being heroic in action is the men and women in battle with Iran fighting every day for our freedom, or the police officers taking down the bad guys. Some may say these men and women are not heroes because some have killed innocent victims, but they all have logically reasoning for

The definition of being heroic is not set in stone, it is very subjective and it can be different to each person. The most accurate way to describe it is saying it is completely determined by the opinion of other people. It doesn’t matter if said person just saved everyone in the world, if no one believes they are heroic then they aren’t. In the book The Three Sisters by Julia Alvarez the most heroic character is Minerva, she has done many brave and selfless things which has led people to feel that she is a hero. There are three main characteristics that a person needs in order for other people to perceive them as heroic.…

Hero’s are everyday people that have done something for the greater good. A hero is a person who has gone out of their way to help or save something or someone from danger. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a hero as, a person, typically a man who is admired for having courage or having outstanding achievements (Merriam-Webster). In my opinion this book definition is wrong, because heroes aren’t just men. Heroes can range from being a small town sports team that just won a state championship or soldiers who saved a community from a terrorist group.…

In the epic story of Beowulf, no matter how selfless a man is, as long as he protects the people from the evil, he is a hero. My personal definition of a heroic action is a selfless deed that is meant to help another, regardless of the negative consequences (such as death, legal action, etc). Some people do not know that they are even someone’s hero. When a person has the power to stand strong and fight for what they believe in they too can be a hero. These are the type of people that give others hope and save lives each and every day. You do not have to have super powers to save someone, you do not have to be in a position or a career where the main goal is to save someone’s life such as a doctor, a policeman or a firefighter.
