In Bradbury 's Fahrenheit 451 Montag is discovered reading and collecting books instead of burning them. “ Now Montag you are a burden. And fire will lift you off my shoulders. I want you to do this job all by your lonesome, not with kerosene and matches… But with a flamethrower. Your house, your cleanup. – When you 're quite finished, said beauty behind him. You 're under arrest” (Bradbury 109–111). In this instance Montag 's rebellion only hurts himself. The simple action of reading resulted in the consequence of the loss of Montag 's house and things in a fire that was forced upon him. Furthermore Equality had the same idea when him and Liberty went out into the forest to begin anew. “ we will rebuild the world that has disintegrated at the hands of the collectivist because it is no longer shackled to the weakness of boundaries.” (Rand 97). Equality had A vision of starting a new life.
