Defense Of Mastery

Great Essays
Attention reader, this is a warning. You are about to read the cheesiest report you have ever read in your entire life. My theme for this Defense of Mastery is the makeup and history of cheese. I chose cheese as my Defense of Mastery theme because it is something out of the ordinary. Last semester I did the road to success, which was more mental than it was physical This semester I hope to go a little crazy and do something a little more challenging. I want to do something fun that could still be taken seriously. As for my product, I have decided to make homemade cheese.
My inspiration for this theme was my world history class. In history, we learned about the Industrial Revolution and how industrialization marked the beginning of special-purpose machinery, factories, child labor and mass production. Since my theme is “the makeup and history of cheese” I would talk about how the Industrial Revolution made mass production of cheese possible. I would also mention how factories, like cheese factories, used child labor for a cheap cost to make their products.

For math, I am going to discuss the linear programming steps and use the word problem discussed earlier in this essay. I connected my math to the theme by relating the problem to a cheese factory maximization of workers. It connects more to history than the other subject, because I placed the word problem in the time of the Industrial Revolution.
Finally for science, I connected my theme to what we learned in class by talking about the physical properties of different minerals and comparing and contrasting them to different cheeses. Since my theme is “the makeup and history of cheese”, science will be the component that makes up the “makeup” of cheese. My knowledge from this class predominantly relates to the theme more than it does any of my other core classes. However, in a way they are all identical to

As a student I have grown by using the theme of one media to find another matching media format with the same theme to show the understanding of the themes. This was a subject under the show of media and theme for my english class. For this subject our culminating assessment was to use the theme of a book called the odyssey to find another source of media, tv show, movie, song, other book and so on,to reinforce the theme of the story of the Odyssey and show how they are alike. The project done in a group was given to us by book 5 in the Odyssey so for us it was titled Book 5-Ogygia and we had to use the theme that we had to find in the story. Nearly two years ago a school was created called Early College High School (ECHS), they created a rule called mastery where in all classes, assignments, and quizzes/exams have to be an 80% or higher, if it is below they have mandatory tutoring to bring it up. Now, today students are working harder and studying harder to keep that rule up to standers which also keeps their grades up to stander. Early College tries their hardest to keep that rule intact with every student in the school. When it comes to teacher keeping the students at mastery level they get most of the pressure at insuring the rule is enforced. Mrs.Stanfill a chemistry teacher at Early College High School was asked if the mastery rule is needed in school and her…

My topic is over The Oregon Trail, it was a 2,200-mile east-west trail that served as a critical transportation route for emigrants traveling from Missouri to Oregon and other points west during the mid-1800s. Travelers were inspired by dreams of gold and rich farmlands, but they were also motivated by difficult economic times in the east and the diseases like yellow fever and malaria that were decimating the Midwest around 1836. The Oregon Trail began in St. Louis, Missouri, in early spring to begin the four- to six-month trek. This would be the last big city most would visit. Settlers loaded wagons and supplies onto steamships to travel 200 miles upstream on the Missouri River, departing when the river began heading north.…

At the beginning of the year, if you had asked me how to write an argumentative essay, identifying figurative language, identify a theme, or write an ACE paragraph, I would have been completely clueless. Thankfully, this year I have grown in these fields, and I am able to identify and use them to help me find the meanings of different passages, and become a stronger writer. A book we read earlier in the year, And Then There Were None, helped me extend my knowledge with the ideas of theme. Theme is the message or ideas the author is trying to portray with their book, article, paper, etc.. Theme can be found by looking at recurring actions of characters, the plot of a story, hidden messages or ideas, or the overall makeup of a character. Death,…

A main focal point that I have found in the module was that Native Americans have developing a complex culture of their own for thousands of years. Using a multitude of techniques that they had created such as the knots used in fishing nets and the medicine used for illnesses that are still in use today. (Becnel, 4) In addition, they have been using those medicines for a very long time with extremely minimalistic knowledge. Showing just how old this culture is and how much we have actually learned from these people and still use in our everyday lives.…

Themes are the fundamentals and universal ideas that are often explored in literary text for my propose the text that will be explored is Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. Frankisten is about Victor Frankenstein and his journey in creating the creature that terrorizes his homeland and his own life. The book Frankenstein hold many themes that seemingly all cannot be expected but two themes in the story I believe can be the umbrella that holds all of the themes under it. The two themes that will be exploring is the lost and craving for forbidden knowledge and how Frankenstein is the Modern Prometheus. In addition to talking about Frankenstein, this will also talk about the story of Prometheus and how their lives and fate is similar.…

Content area literacy is an important part of a students’ literacy development. My definition is that it is the part of literacy that helps students comprehend different subjects and the information that comes with the content. A student will not be completely successful if they do not fully understand what they are supposed to be learning. This puts a great deal of pressure on our shoulders as teachers to make sure our students can read and write successfully in all content areas. My past experiences with content area literacy has not all been positive.…
