The day I have been waiting for. I remember waking up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday. The morning was chilly but, I was prepared. Time to see if all the weeks of preparation and hard work would pay off. My dad and I went out for hour’s that day and did not see a single deer, not one! I remember feeling very disappointed. After going out five times braving the elements that Mother Nature has to offer this time of year; such as cloudy skies, rainy mornings. I even remember trying a couple different strategies, like walking into the woods from different directions, and going out to hunt at different times of the day, still nothing! Growing frustrated and unsure of my ability-trying my hardest to be patient knowing this was all part of the hunting experience. Finding myself day dreaming about the shot and what it was going to be like. Then to my surprise-I saw something! When I least expected it! My heart skipped a beat in my chest… There in front of me, walking slowing within shooting range-a large doe! Wow, now I’m forced to ask myself again and again-is this the one, is this the one, is this the one? Should I wait? I waited… It was the sixth day of my hunting adventure. I felt bummed out, because, that could have been the moment I was waiting for I could have made the shot and watched all of my hard work pay off. I waited; there was nothing for at least another ten minutes. But then, we heard something my heart started pounding again, my dad told me to get ready, so I stood up and got my bow ready, I was so excited! I heard a noise coming from the same direction the doe’s came from; it seemed like forever before I got a glimpse of the buck. And there he was standing there making his way toward our tree stand; moving with ease. It was the one, a buck, I waited for a few minutes as he made his way towards us, it felt like my heart was going to pound right out of my chest my legs were even shaking a little bit. He couldn’t have stopped in a better spot he was about 15 yard away broad side to us it couldn’t have been more perfect, he stopped in the same place the three doe were before he came , he was pushing them. My dad told me to draw my bow back my heart was still pounding and my legs still shacking, I knew I needed to settle
