Clarity, Arrangement, And Tone

The five cognate strategies I have chosen are Clarity, Conciseness, Arrangement, Credibility and Tone. Below we

will look at how these five cognate strategies can be used in business writing.

Clarity: There is no doubt that a business writing which is clearly written gives your audience or the intended

receiver a clear understanding of the content of your message. For example, let say in two weeks time, there is going

to be an announcement in the office, but however I wish to personally inform you that by Friday next week my

position in the office will void or empty because I will be going to our Jakarta office to accept a five year's assignment

I had to write to the government

authority concern. In order to win her trust and for her to have confidence in us, I had to write a letter to her indicating

exactly the formal structure of our organization from general manager, to assistant general manager etc. as this was

one of the criteria in order to be granted the financial support.

I used the conciseness strategy in my letter to the Cameroonian government, as already mentioned above. During

my explanation in my letter, I told her exactly how many bosses we have in the office, as well as their functions. I also

went further to let her know the reason why we needed this money and how it will be beneficial to the community at

large. My explanation was very concise and efficient.

I used Credibility strategy four years ago when I was working as the manager of a hotel, one of my former

employee who was seeking employment in another organization came to me for a letter of recommendation. I did

write a letter of recommendation to the organization which she was seeking employment indicating that she
