Dee Henderson Research Paper

Dee Henderson is one of the best Christian fiction writers of her time. Her favorite genre to write is suspense/romance and she does it incredibly well. She has won or been nominated for numerous awards including the RITA Award, the Christy Award, the ECPA Gold Medallion, the Holt Medallion, the National Reader’s Choice Award, and the Golden Quill. Dee Henderson has worked hard to make herself a bestselling author and her journey to this point has not been easy. Dee Henderson knew from an early age that she wanted to be a writer; however, she also knew that she would need a steady job to pay for the cost of producing the books and to pay the bills. She decided to go college to become an engineer and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science (Toliver). This allowed her to work and have a steady income while she worked on creating stories and writing a novel well enough to publish it. She is passionate about politics and she is highly curious about space. To relax, she enjoys going camping in the woods and getting away from the stresses of her daily life. She also enjoys watching Westerns and often calls herself “old school” (“Dee Henderson Books”). While she does not mentor young writers, she does like to watch them grow. She simply does not feel that God led her to be a mentor. One of her most prominent inspirations was Dallas Willard, a philosopher. She quoted him said that one of her favorite quotes from him is him saying that he was going to do his best work, but that God was the one who gave him all the gifts that he has. It is clear that Dee Henderson is a strong Christian and often, she quotes Christian leaders in her answers to interview questions.
