Conclusion An annual cost of US$3 billion goes into treatment for pressure ulcers as discussed in this paper. Pressure ulcers cause pain, discomfort, and death. Nurses are the first line of management in patient care. Patient with proper assessment by a nurse practicing knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) will not be at a risk of harm. Multidisciplinary team collaboration is shown to be effective in preventing and treating pressure ulcers. Evidenced-based practice (EBP) shows decrease in pressure ulcers when team collaboration is used in critical care patients. Decrease in pressure ulcers can occur by implementing skin care record, multidisciplinary team checklist, and chain of communication protocol. This will promote safe and quality
