The application of color and paint in a piece creates a noticeable surface texture within the work. This surface texture can be used to enhance the general chaos or conversely the straightforwardness of a work. The use of color within the image also has an effect on the overall mood of the painting and the viewer’s perception of the subjects. In Claude Monet’s Grainstacks (Snow Effect) the heavily textured surface of the painting and visibility of the separate brush strokes creates a sense of complexity, which along with the practice of keeping colors separate, adds to the visual depth of an otherwise very plain subject but still enforces the general mood of the painting. On the other hand in Kingstein’s Christ in a Pawn Shop the surface texture…
Ethos, Pathos, And Logos Walk into a bar… - James an ordinary man went to Albert’s bar just for a few drinks to ease off the horrible day he was having. When he got to the bar he sat down and asked for a Grape Escape. A Grape Escape is made out of UV Grape Vodka, sour mix, and a slash of raspberry berry liqueur served over ice in a low ball glass. After James got his Grape Escape he noticed a drunk woman close by where he was sitting. She was crying and looked unhappy.…
The area of my topic for my Capstone Project is the environment and the United States should stop the production of the North Dakota Access Pipeline. The pipeline is 1,172 miles long and it will transport 470,000 barrels of oil per day. The pipeline will begin in North Dakota, travel through South Dakota, and Iowa, and end in central Illinois. The pipeline will be placed through the Standing Rock Sioux land, which is in North Dakota, and the pipeline would affect their only water supply if the pipeline spills. I chose this area because the media doesn't show what is happening in North Dakota and I want people to be informed about what is going on in our country and stand with Standing Rock to end this battle.…
John Wegener Ms. Winona Landis English 111-FG 3 October 2014 Inquiry II Writer’s Letter My goal for this paper was to show that this poster’s message was different than what I thought Student Health should be saying. I picked apart logos, pathos, and ethos and gave them their own separate sections of the paper, to cut down on repetition. Before I analyzed at all, though, I established a clear base to get on the same page as the reader.…
The topic I chose is ObamaCare (ACA), and the effect it has on low income families. The functionalist perspective of healthcare is, good health and effective medical care. These both are essential for having a functioning society. Most of society shares a common set of values, such as beliefs and expectations.…
My topic choice was sustainability. The topic was appropriate for the audience. I covered the fact that sustainability is involved in every choice we take economically and culturally/ethically. Sadly I feel I had bit off way more than I could chew. The topic contained to much require background knowledge for me to efficiently cover and proceed to my relative examples to better inform the class on the topic.…
My topic is over The Oregon Trail, it was a 2,200-mile east-west trail that served as a critical transportation route for emigrants traveling from Missouri to Oregon and other points west during the mid-1800s. Travelers were inspired by dreams of gold and rich farmlands, but they were also motivated by difficult economic times in the east and the diseases like yellow fever and malaria that were decimating the Midwest around 1836. The Oregon Trail began in St. Louis, Missouri, in early spring to begin the four- to six-month trek. This would be the last big city most would visit. Settlers loaded wagons and supplies onto steamships to travel 200 miles upstream on the Missouri River, departing when the river began heading north.…
Welcome to the Honors World History A Independent Research Portfolio (IRP). In this project you will compare and contrast two of the societies you have studied. You will analyze the similarities and differences between the two societies in terms of one of the following categories: Social, Political, Religious, Intellectual, Technological, or Economic history. (These categories are easy to remember with the acronym SPRITE.)…
There are two main viewpoints on any environmental issue, the modernist perspective and the neo-traditionalist perspective. The two perspectives greatly contrast each other, as they take completely opposite sides of the argument in any environmental issue. This was represented in the lecture by Professor Mark Boyer about Considering Environmental Values. For the purpose of this essay, I will specifically be talking about the issue of Climate change, and how both perspectives view this environmental issue. The modernist perspective consists of the optimists, they conclude that our continuous technological advancement is key to future success and will bring about solutions to any problems.…
The topic I chose for my research project is migrant workers. The importance of my topic migrant workers was working to survive and to maintain the family. The first subtopic for my topic is jobs. They found better jobs so they could have a un-harsh living condition.…
The subjects selected are population growth as an annual percentage, child death rate, and hours worked per week and income levels. Population growth has become a serious topic over the last two years because of the strain that it is put on our resources such as, water, food, and energy. The first priority of pure drinking water has commanded attention from several countries including the United States. California alone has struggled with providing water from the Midwest over the last two years and has created a conflict between states. Therefore, the food that is produced in California basin has almost disappeared.…
PRELIMINARY REPORT I got my topic the second time I picked from the bucket. My first topic I picked was Trovants from Contesti, Romania. I looked at a couple of sites, but it didn’t look interesting to me. It was living rocks that can move, grow, and reproduce, so I drew again. I drew the Anjikuni Lake in Canada.…
The topic I choose to do my research project on was on how to pitch a softball. I decided this because I have always wanted to play softball and learn the basics, but I never have been able to because I have extremely weak knees. So choosing this topic was easy. Right at the beginning of the week I started to plan the project and figured out what I needed in order to do this project. Now that I knew what I needed it was time to start.…
the biggest impact of climate change is the melting of glaciers; because of the high temperatures glaciers are melting and raising sea levels. The problem behind this is the lower regain are being submerge in water, pulse the glaciers themselves holds 70% of freshwater and if they melt it mighty mass with how ocean currents operates. (Transition between main points: the raise of temperature has affected many natural wildlife and the...) III. the environment has also been effected by the changes that causes global warming, with the glaciers melting Antarctic ecosystem is in disarray. A.…
(Gain attention) President Barack Obama once said “There’s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent threat of a changing climate.” (Reveal Topic) This statement by President Obama on climate change conveys how important the fight against climate change is. (Establish Credibility) I became interested in this topic after getting into a disagreement regarding climate change with my grandfather and how he doesn’t “buy into that liberal bullshit,” so I set out on a mission to prove him wrong by conducting research with the goal of fully understanding the climate change debate. (Preview the Body)…
