Decline Of Rome Essay

Politics lead to a growth of Rome but then later a decline of Rome because of many reasons. Rome first changed from a Republic to an empire because of it’s size and was ruled by their 1st emperor named Augustus. Later emperors used their power well or abused which caused problems to many of the citizens in Rome. One of the reasons Rome survived for a while before it collapsed because of the laws that were displayed so every citizen could not argue the didn’t know that it was a law,when they broke a law. Also Rome cared about equality so other people they conquered or came by choice were equally treated as Roman citizens. This lead to Rome being overpopulated and they needed more space. They invited other civilizations to help them in agriculture when they decided to claim Rome as their own starting more fights. Rome needed a strong emperor and fast. Diocletian saw the falling of Rome and divided Rome adding a co-emperor which citizens didn’t take seriously. Soon both sides were rejoined by Constantine. The Huns started raiding Rome since they raided the Goths. Romans paid Goths to go away with money which backfired when the Roman stopped and the Goths started conquering the land of Roma while the Barbarians were defeated Roma in the West. SInce they didn’t have a strong emperors the military started fighting leaving Roma unintended. The barbarian took over Rome and claimed it as their own in 476, but later the Eastern and Western Roman emperors wanted to reunite the Roman empire. Justinian accomplished that but conquered much more. Also to make it a more efficient society he created the Justinian Code which were new and improved laws. Soon the people against Justinian started riots and Justinian wanted to leave, but Theodora (Justinian’s wife) encouraged him to stay and get rid of the
