Rome’s decline occurred over 250 years and included many factors. A weak central government, economic deterioration, and population loss all contributed to the fall of Rome. Another large factor in the fall of the Roman empire was the invasions from the North. Invasions played a role in the falls of both the Persian and Roman empire. In Greece, the death of Alexander the great contributed to the decline of classical civilization. Following his death, wars broke out and there was a less effective government and lack of political unity and order.
