The strongest reason for America 's decline is our current state of politics, which Zakaria titles as “a do-nothing politics”. The idea of a do-nothing politics is described by the belief that American politicians are not actually doing anything because they can 't come to a compromise on simple issues. This state of politics is dramatically affecting our country because if our politicians can 't come to an agreement on any issue, how do we expect to advance? Another reason Americans believe the United States are in a state of decline is because of the idea of the rise of the rest. While I view the rise of the rest as having a positive effect on America, this side of the spectrum views it negatively. The idea of the rise of the rest is that other countries are transitioning into a more powerful state that appears to surpass America 's performances. Countries that are currently impressing the world include China and India due to their rapid increase of influence throughout other rising countries, the stability of government and society, and their advancements in technology and education. The rise of the rest is generally looked at as beneficial to countries who are allied with them, therefore increasing in power is encouraged by supporting countries and not looked upon negatively by the communities. Americans who encourage the idea of the rise of the rest are supportive towards currently growing and allied countries, while the society of said growing countries are accepting of American support, resulting in a stronger bond. I support the decision in allowing other countries to rise and possibly surpass America, knowing it is beneficial to the United
