To begin, these pieces of writing contain many similarities when compared with each other. The similarities that they contain stem from the thought of what is best for the nation. Each of the writings share the common …show more content…
One of the main differences is the content that each of them contain. Mazinni’s letter focuses more on humans and their pursuit to create a common good for the United States. This letter mainly focused on the humans that were in the States instead of across the sea. Mazinni argues that the duty of these people should be to help the nation and its overall good. This is shown when Mazinni writes, “0, my brothers, love your Country! Our country is our Home, a house God has given us, placing therein a numerous family that loves us, and whom we love” (Mazinni 2). Mazinni talks about the love that a man must have for their country. He puts significance on the men that are already living in the country to love it and put it before themselves. Contrary to Mazinni’s letter, the Declaration of Independence gives a list of truths that show the “repeated injuries and usurpations” done by the King of Great Britain. One of the truths that the Declaration revealed about the King was his refusal of wanting a common public good in the United States. The best nation is one that is built up by people who are not in it for themselves, but in it for the good of their nation and the people around them who make up that nation. In my opinion the thought of a unified nation all working towards a common good is best. In conclusion, the Declaration of Independence and Mazinni’s letter each express the want for a nation that is unified under a common good for all. Each of them suggest ideas that could lead towards a good functioning nation. While sharing some ideas and also having a little contrast in ideas, each of them expressed what nation they would like to see. The two pieces of history lay a blueprint for thought today on how our modern country can function for the common good of
