When I was thirteen, my sisters and I tried our hand at filmmaking by entering in Harford County Public Library's book trailer video contest. Our first ever film went on to win second place. With this newfound interest in film, I began spending several hours each week volunteering in the video production department at my church. This volunteer position enhanced my skills and showed me how filmmaking can be used as a powerful agent for social good. When I began my college journey at the age of fifteen, there was no doubt in my mind that filmmaking would become part of my career.
