Servant Leadership: The Future Of Today's Society

According to Senge (2006), it appears that the question concerning the future of today’s society is increasingly becoming a global one. This is because today’s world appears to be demonstrating what is described as the phenomena of a systematic nature (Palaima & Skarzfauskiene, 2010). However, Senge (2006) opined that the basic fundamentals for effective leadership in today’s world are shifting. According to Senge (2006), fundamentals of effective leadership begin with a set of deep capacities that only a few of today’s leaders appear to have developed. Among these leadership capacities are systems intelligence, being able to build partnerships across boundaries, and openness of mind.
It is telling that effective leader is one who usually builds and maintains relationships, and copes with change. Thus, decision making and organizational learning in an increasingly dynamic world

Meanwhile, the term “fundamentally” usually means the level of change required, which is considered as nontrivial. Thus, when both terms are used together, it usually means a paradigm shift (Barker, 1992). The current learner is a proponent that leadership should be one of the people and future, rather than the traditional concept of outcome and process as in the case of servant leadership (Wong & Davey, 2007). This means that a humanistic and spiritual approach to leadership would replace what is described as a rational and mechanistic approach to leadership, and therefore, this type of leadership would put an employee rather than a shareholder at the heart of what is described as the concentric circles. It would also motivate an employee mainly through the creation of a thoughtful and caring workplace rather than through the use of an individual reward system.
