Parents have lived longer than their children and they have had the chance to commit mistakes and learn from them, as a result parents tend to be more logical and practical. However, just as the parents were allowed to make mistakes they should also allow their children to have their fair share of failures and learn their own lessons. In her article, teacher Jessica Lahey (2011) stated that it is essential for parents to teach their children not to fear failing and except it as an inevitable part of reality they need to face and learn from. She also says that being over protective and not letting the children live their own experiences is detrimental for not only their academic performance but it also touches most aspects of their lives for it will decrease their chances of being independent and competent. While parents might want to spare their children the hardship of failure out of love, they are in fact hurting them even
