Deception Is The Only Way To Reveal A Vital Truth

If deception is the only way to reveal a vital truth, then the world should live without the truth. Deception is never the answer to a question you cannot answer. As a journalist, if you find yourself in the position where you feel as if you have exhausted all of your options, I believe that it is then time to keep trying because there is always a way. The way may never be easy, but any way is better than using deception as a tool for seeking the truth. Deception is a form of lying and lying is one of the sins of journalism. There are no lies in the truth, therefore you cannot seek the truth with a lie. Lying itself completely defeats the purpose of journalism itself. Journalism is based around the credibility of the media, and without credibility then readers could never believe a word that is said. If readers know that a journalist lied to get something, then how could they know they did not just lie about what they reported on? If a journalist can lie once then he can lie again, and who can tell when they are lying and when they are not? …show more content…
It is always wrong to lie when reporting, no matter what the circumstance calls for. Deception should never be the answer for any journalist, and if a journalist feels that it is the only option left then they are wrong. There is always a way to do something if you try hard enough and journalists owe it to their readers to always be truthful and to report with integrity. Journalism can become a muddy field but I believe that no truth is worth changing who you are as a person and a journalist just to get it. If you seek to become an ethical journalist then you will always do what is right and ethical, lying never falls under those
