Even though we don’t realize it, celebrities have a great impact on many of us. Collin Palmer argues that we shouldn’t be concerned about that impact–it’s really just harmless gossip. However, some people do get caught up with the negative influences of celebrities. Luckily, we know that even negative influences can lead to positive consequences
I agree with Palmer because I believe that celebrity obsession is not hurting anyone unless you get oblige them into the negative influences. According, to Deborah King she does not agree with Palmer because she believes that we are obsessed with celebrities. She is wrong. “Some believe that we are obsessed with celebrities because we need to have an escape from the humdrum of everyday life” (6). I would understand if people would need an escape on reality but that still wouldn't mean we are necessarily obsessed with celebrities because we do it sometimes not always. Everybody sometimes need a break from reality but not all the time because we wouldn’t have our own unique style. We would also become lazy and not do anything but look on celebrity websites and sit there like a couch potato. There are more stories about celebrities with negative influences but that doesn't mean there aren't any about celebrities that are positive influences. As a matter of fact, “ There are celebrities who use their fame to bring about change and are good celebrity role models” (15). I think that we need more of these celebrities because it might change the way we think of them. We don’t know if it will come to that point but maybe in the future. I don’t think anybody wants a celebrity with a bad reputation because they will not help you in the future. It will only decrease your chances of becoming successful in life. You will also get into trouble with the law and maybe end up in jail. Nobody would want to end up in these
