In addition , debates have also impacted many elections in the past. When the first debate happened on national television which was the Kennedy and Nixon debate it helped a lot of people know who they were going to vote for because in the debate Kennedy was looking calm and collective while Nixon looked unprofessional since he was unprepared . Although many say the debate was a draw since both did well in the debate however Kennedy ‘’won over the 70 million television viewers by a broad margin.’’ (History, 2010) This debate helped a lot of people see how the candidates personas were and because of that Kennedy won. So as it can be shown, debates in the past have impacted many elections.
