School Uniforms
School uniforms are causing much controversy among many public schools and families that attend those schools. Many private schools require their students to wear uniforms, but most public schools allow their students to wear what they want. The reason is that, most private schools have the money to make their students wear uniforms. Some public schools, on the other hand, are unable to afford school uniforms in their budget. Various people believe that school uniforms would cause too much trouble in schools among the students. The uniforms are beginning to form arguments between the parents and the school. Public schools should be unable to force their students to dress the exact same way. Parents would have to pay for their

If a parent is unable to send their children to a good private school, then they could be unable to buy their children all new uniforms. The cost of school uniforms are rising and making it harder and harder for parents to afford them. There is visible evidence that shows that the costs to families are rising as schools become more demanding (Helm, The Guardian). This is causing more local authorities to withdraw financial support for children moving from primary to secondary school (Helm, The Guardian). If parents have more than one child, then they will have to pay extra for more uniforms and more school supplies. The parents of large families should be unable to be punished by the school by paying the high costs of the school uniforms. Punishing the parents for sending their children to school is unjust. The school would punish the families by making them pay extra each year for new clothes and supplies. Some poor parents will have paid 40% of their monthly income, in August, on back to school items for their children (Helm, The Guardian). When other supplies such as pencil cases, calculators, and dictionaries, is taken into consideration, the cost will grow even further (Helm, The Guardian). Private schools are able to afford to have their students buy all new uniforms, but public schools are unable to. The cost of school supplies such as pencils, pens, and binders are rising. This is making parents spend more on school supplies then they need to. By adding the cost of all necessary school supplies and the cost of the new required uniforms, families will be unable to support their children. This could cause parents to get an extra job to pay the required cost to send their children to school and to pay the cost of the required bills. House bills are necessary, but school uniforms are

In the student essay, United Uniforms, the writer tries to persuade their audience to support the introduction of standardized uniforms for public schools in the United States. The audience for the paper is the American education system and the parents of students. We are given stories of students who took their own lives due to conflicts at school; this is important because schools are often searching for ways to avoid the preventable loss of their students. The paper also explicitly states that parents should support a national uniform policy, directing its attention to this portion of the audience. The writer provided a well-rounded explanation of why uniforms should be supported and why they are important.…

More than half of children in public school are living in poverty and the percentage of low-income families are rising. Back in 2000, there were only 38 percent of students with free or reduced price lunches. Students from low-income families most likely have different needs from middle and high-income families such as medical problems or behavioral issues. In “Delaware 's child poverty rate remains high,” by Jen Rini, she mentions “Many wonder when their next meal will be. School may be the only place where they can find clean clothes,” (Rini, 1).…

Recently, attention has been given to plans for improving the public schools by allowing parents to choose where their children attend school through a school voucher system. The education voucher system exists when a government provides payment to families that allow their children to attend a private or public school of their choice. The payment is in the form of a voucher that can be given directly to the parents of the child, or indirectly to the school of choice. The purpose of the voucher systems is “to increase parental choice, promote competition and allow lower income families access to private education” (West 1997, p.83). The implementation of the voucher system would force poorly run schools and inadequate teachers to improve their…

Ultimately the role of the parent and their influence on their children is said to be the biggest factor in academic success (Jyoti, 2013). In the United States, a large deciding factor in a parent’s decision in sending their child to a private school is the tuition rates. When it comes to affordability some families are making monetary sacrifices to send their child to a private school because they have the belief that the private education their child will receive is worth what they pay for.
