The firing squad method the inmate is strapped to a chair and in front of a canvas wall. A black hood is coving the inmates face, the doctor locates the heart and puts a white cloth over it. Five shooters are armed with .30 caliber rifles, one of the shooters is given black rounds. Each of the shooters fires through a slot in the canvas and fires at the inmate. Hanging is the primary method in the United States. Before the execution, the inmate is weighed before the hanging and determine the length of the rope so it can kill the criminal fast and swift. The prisoner’s hands and legs are tied together and he/she has a black hood over their head and the noose is placed around the neck. The inmate stands over a trapped door, the prisoner falls through and snaps his/her neck. These are the five ways the government puts someone to death. Death penalty is an ethics topic because it is inhumane to kill another human being, but it is also inhuman to slaughter another or many others. The death penalty helps the families of the victim, and/or the victim too, get closure and they can move on. Retribution is the strongest argument for the capital punishment. "Common sense, lately bolstered by statistics, tells us that the death penalty will deter murder... People fear nothing more than death. Therefore, nothing will deter a criminal more than the fear of death... life in prison is less feared. Murderers clearly prefer it to execution -- otherwise, they would not try to be sentenced to life in prison instead of death... Therefore, a life sentence must be less deterrent than a death sentence. And we must execute murderers as long as it is merely possible that their execution protects citizens from future murder" (Haag 2005).
