How many of you have heard about crimes so horrible that they sound like came out of a horror story? Today I?m going to try and persuade you into why capital punishment is good and why it should be reinstated. I have learned while researching that inmates that are in for life cost the tax payers and the state tons of money annually. I?ll do this by first, discussing what is wrong with the capital punishment system right now, Second, I will discuss some possible solutions to fix it, and finally, I will discuss why the changes to the capital punishment system will be beneficial.

The capital punishment system is currently broken, with nearly 405 people annually emitted into prison with the death sentence. With these numbers coming in very few death penalties are actually carried through. With these delayed executions have shown to increase costs two fold (Mc Clatchy). The average age found guilty and receiving a death penalties is 29 years old and the average age in which the penalties are finally carried out is 46 years old. As a human being the death penalty being enforced back into Australian society would mean a large number of death in our country and impact myself greatly. Personally thinking about the way it would make families learn to deal with the death of their loved ones, does not sound like one step closer to a brighter future. “The death toll rises” would not be a surprise for a newspaper headline anymore after death would be an option to deal with criminals. People would fear for the repercussions. These repercussions would include rioting if a man who was wrongfully convicted, was sentenced to death and families rampaging after a lost son or daughter, sister or brother.…

The costs are borne at taxpayers ' expense. These appeals are essential because some inmates have been on death row when evidence was uncovered proving their innocence. There are also two trials instead of one, one for guilt and one for punishment. Each case can last up to several years. And while all of this is taking place, the inmates are held in a high security prison, so the state pays the cost of life imprisonment on top of the expensive trial.…

That’s right, the expensive punishment isn’t only affecting the people sentenced to it, it’s affecting you and your wallet. Further, the website Solitary Watch did some digging to find that on average a solitary confinement prisoner costs over $26,000 per year. When penitentiaries in the United States use about 51 billion yearly, 2 billion or the amount spent on solitary confinement is actually not a lot until you see that isolation holds only a small percent of prisoners. Only 2 percent of the prison population is held in some sort of segregation, but 4 percent of the lockup budget is used for segregation, the numbers don’t add up. If the system were perfect the two percent of the prison would be in solitary and 2 percent of the budget would be spent on solitary.…

However, it will cost America money to keep that inmate in prison. For example, in California prisons it costs an average $44,563 a year per inmate, and if they are over 30,000 inmates, thats over one billion dollars being spent to house them. This is simply way to much money being…

It is a well known problem in the United States today and is even a part of heated debates in the current election; the incarceration rates have skyrocketed in the past year and crime rates have not gone down. Crime, in fact, has also been at an all time high. This is not a worldwide issue, however, and it is obvious we as a country need to make a change in system. The incarceration rate is known to be an issue, but few know how much of a problem it is.…

Around the world capital punishment is being used on criminals, and I think it is the right thing to do for criminals that have murdered or raped someone. Some people may agree with me and some may think it’s the wrong thing to do. But it doesn't make sense to let a criminal just sit the rest of their lives away in prison. Which according to The Law Dictionary “to house an inmate in prison costs roughly between 20,000 to 40,000 dollars a year. ” If you add up the costs for each year it is roughly around the same price as the death penalty costs.…

Although many people believe in capital punishment, we believe that capital punishment serves no useful purpose since it does not deter capital crimes from being committed and if we review the social and moral reasons for such punishment we will find that such punishment should be abandoned as "cruel and unusual" punishment" as defined in the Constitution. First off we don’t condone offenses against the law, however, the treatment of those who have disregarded the law is horrible. Prisoners are treated with various counts of social and moral injustice every single day. Barely anyone truly cares about these people who need real help and habilitation. It is truly sad to see how terrible our justice system is at rehabilitation, especially since…

Capital punishment should be abolished because it is too expensive to retain, it is revenge not justice, and it 's possible for innocent people to be executed. The execution of human life should not be something we advocate here in the United States, it’s sad that as a nation we preach peace while still executing our citizens. The millions of dollars being wasted on executions could be spent improving our criminal justice system, and in doing so, improve our country. Not only is the death penalty a waste of our hard earned tax dollars, but it also puts innocent lives at risk. Mistreated or mishandled evidence can easily put an innocent life on death row.…

Argumentative Essay Against Capital Punishment Google defines Capital Punishment as “the legal authorized killing of someone as punishment for a crime.” It is argued that the death penalty is justice for those who commit crimes deserving of such extreme punishment. It is argued that the death penalty is a punishment set up so that the grieving families of the victims will feel a sense of accomplished justice.
