Death Penalty Is Wrong Essay

The death penalty has been around for as long as civilizations have been around, but is it wrong? Many people will argue that it is immoral, that the government can not and should not have the power to decide whether someone lives or dies. Many others will argue that it is necessary, whether it is immoral or not, as a punishment for those who commit heinous crimes, like mass murder, treason, terroristic attacks, and anything related to these three acts in any kind of way. So if about fifty percent of people argue that it is wrong, while the other fifty percent argue that it is right, than who is correct?
People who argue that the death penalty is wrong, whether because they believe it is immoral or that the government should not have that kind of power, are understandable. I believe that it is wrong to kill someone (and hope I will never have to make a choice like that), as well as the fact that the government should not have that kind of power. If Adolf Hitler were still alive, just about everyone in the world would want him dead. Understandable, since he was responsible for the deaths of eleven million Jewish people. But then again, not everyone would be capable of doing, or seeing that happen. I would not want to see that, and I would not want to choose whether he lives or dies, only because life is a wonderful thing, and I do not want to take that from anyone. It would be necessary though, since by doing that we would in some way avenge all those killed in the holocaust. Death is a horrifying thing for most, which is why no one should have that power, but it is necessary, since it would not only avenge those killed by the accused, it would also prevent others from doing heinous
