Death Penalty: the Wrong Doing
Since 1976 roughly 1,400 people have met the faith of capital punishment. Many people are convicted with murder and are then sentenced to the death row. Some are able to present a case while others can’t and are they thrown to death. The death penalty should be abolished in the United States. The death penalty is a flawed form of punishment because it doesn’t prevent problems, discrimination, and it’s inhumane.
In 1608 the first person exiled in America was hanged for spying on the Spanish government. Many methods included the electric chair, lethal injections, gas chambers, hung, firing squads, and even gruesome ways like beheading.
Initially, the main purpose for the death penalty is to solve problems. It should be true that it helps, however the reality of it is that it really doesn’t do anything but cause more problems. The system is hypocritical, trying to stop violence with more violence. As Brad explains with, "We don 't like people who kill other people, so to show everyone how much we don 't like people who kill people, we are going to kill people who kill other people” (Bushman). Violence isn’t going to end unless we change the way we punish people. Since many use death penalty as a solution, instead of decreasing the murder rate, it’s increasing it. States that allow death penalties have a homicide rate of 48-101% more than non-death penalty states. It does not deter crime. Many people May argue that it reduces situations or “It’s what they deserve”. It doesn’t really change anything, it may even increase the problems. Even families of the victims are against capital punishment. Killing them doesn’t undo what they did. They should get life in prison rather than taking the easy way
