Both Ruth and James dealt with the death of Hunter Jordan much differently. Ruth had acted to herself and James was very outspoken with his actions rather than his words. James made his first statement when he had dropped out of highschool because he started failing all his classes (Chapter 2). James also began to get into petty crime like shoplifting he even claimed to have robbed a drug dealer at one point in his life (Chapter 2). James when he was cutting school would hang out with his friends to go to the movies, smoke weed, wave razors, and ride the subway (Chapter 2). James dealt with the death of Hunter Jordan much different than his mother did. They both had an opposite reaction with incident that happened.
