As Kino and Juana marched toward the ocean carrying Coyotito.Kino stops and pulls the pearl from his pocket. Holding it up to the light, he stares into it carefully. As Kino stares at the pearl he sees their future.He sees his marriage in a church, and an education for Coyotito,fine clothing, and a new harpoon made of iron. Suddenly, the music was no longer pleasant, but sinister, when he began looking for his rifle is sees a man he killed,instead of seeing a church wedding he sees Juana beaten and dragging herself home, and Coyotito with a feverish face.All of the pain was unbearable for Kino throws the pearl into the ocean with all his might. They could no longer live in the city of La Paz, where their light of their life had been killed …show more content…
Those words changed Kino forever instead feeling the wind, he followed his heart and his heart belonged to La Paz. He could no longer run away from his problems, but face them head on. Coyotito represented the future for La Paz and the lives he has touched through his death. Kino left his most prized possession that was passed down from generation to the next.They returned to La Paz. Four years had passed, and Kino and Juana had a baby girl named Coyotita. Coyotita had her mother's face and her father’s anger and love for his family. The doctor sold his home to build and open up a school for children and adults . The Doctor felt guilty for the cause of the death of Coyotito, since he denied treatment for the scorpion bite. Everyone treated each other as if they were family. Kino along with his daughter Coyotita enrolled in the school. Kino learned how to read and write, something he wanted to be able to do. Knowledge comes with power.
